Garden Grants: Protein Engineering

In October 2023, Homeworld launched a first-of-kind grantmaking program to fund ambitious climate efforts. We provided a total of $1.35M across 16 teams to support early-stage projects at the translational intersection of protein engineering and sustainability, with solutions spanning plastics degradation, biomanufacturing, carbon dioxide removal, and more.

Garden Grants Cohort Program

Beyond fast funding, Garden Grants facilitates learning and collaboration by offering a yearlong cohort program for the funded researchers. This program includes lightweight structured meetings, mentorship tailored to each researchers needs such as downstream funding, industrial applications, scientific expertise, and opportunities to connect and collaborate with other grantees.

Key events in the program include a kickoff meeting for the cohort members to connect, a mid-year check-in to give research updates and any requests for help, and a Demo Day to showcase their research progress to a group of funders. Additionally, we provide optional networking opportunities for the cohort throughout the year.
